Undersea Explorer, Adventure Diving and Research
In the 20th Century Jacques Cousteau's Calypso expeditions introduced
the world to the wonder and awe of our underwater environment. Now in
the 21st Century we are all able to join in this style of expedition
with Undersea Explorer. These unique adventure diving and research
expeditions contribute directly to conservation and research.
Our research projects focus on many areas of interest, including minke
whales, sharks, octopus, nautilus, fluorescent corals, water quality and
coral spawning. By reputation the Undersea Explorer is the most
interesting adventure dive boat operating on the Great Barrier Reef. Our
dive experiences are featured on Discovery Channel, National Geographic,
Channel 3 (France) and ZDF. This years Festival of Underwater Images in
Antibes features two films 'Coral Seas' and 'Raine Island - Nature's
Warzone' which were filmed in conjunction with Undersea Explorer.
Undersea Explorer is the 'divers' dive boat' providing access to
Australia's best dive sites on the Great Barrier Reef, Osprey Reef in
the Coral Sea, and the spectacular remote wilderness Far Northern Reefs.
Divers abilities are respected with non-timed dives (no limit dives) and
exhilarating drift dives. This 6 day/6 night liveaboard vessel sets a
new standard in adventure diving through combining true remote diving
with authentic research and marine biology education. Your diving
experience is our priority, and research fits around the diving program,
developing a new and stimulating atmosphere of discovery and wonder on
all expeditions whilst contributing to the conservation of the marine
eco-system.
